The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of a woman in her 70s with COVID-19.

The woman was from Tennant Creek, had underlying health conditions and passed away at the Tennant Creek Hospital.

There have now been 15 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic.

There were 546 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 8pm on 19 February 2022. Of these, 491 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

There were 342 cases recorded in the Top End region, 58 in Central Australia, 46 in East Arnhem, 12 in the Big Rivers region, 23 in the Barkly region and 65 are under investigation.

There are currently 127 patients in hospital, with 16 patients requiring oxygen. There are two patients in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 6308.
