The Northern Territory is today reporting the death of a man in his 80s with COVID-19.

The man was from Central Australia, had underlying health conditions and passed away at Alice Springs Hospital.

There have now been 16 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic.

There were 716 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 8pm on 21 February 2022. Of these, 663 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

There were 409 cases recorded in the Top End region, 114 in Central Australia, 42 in East Arnhem, 52 in the Big Rivers region, 37 in the Barkly region and 62 are under investigation.

There are currently 123 patients in hospital, with 10 patients requiring oxygen. There are three patients in ICU.

The number of active cases in the NT is about 5,754.
