Cr Anna De Villiers – Carisbrook Mercury 5 October

Cr Anna de Villiers

Spring is such a special time of the year with blossoms everywhere. Walking out of the Hub Monday evening, the fragrance of the wisteria flowering outside the building. It is a time that fills one with renewed energy looking at the way nature responds to the warmer weather and longer days.

At the moment the rain is pounding on the roof of my house. Probably the last good soak before the summer’s heat kicks in.

I was reflecting on the past three years being on council, acting as your representative – your voice. This time next year we will be preparing for the next elections for local government. It has been a great honour and privilege to be your representative. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the residents of Tullaroop Ward for your support. I valued all the discussions I had with constituents. Just know that no problem or query you had was ever too insignificant or cumbersome to share.

Reflecting on achievements of the past 30 months, there are many achievements that are visible and measurable, but also many that cannot be measured.

The biggest achievement for me was starting the Carisbrook Community Conversations. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to attend. I enjoyed the conversations and being able to talk about general concerns and achievements. I was reading through the list of topics we covered and we had some interesting conversations and topics raised.

The next Carisbrook Community Conversation will be held on the 22 November 2023 at 7pm at the Fire Station in Green Street. As this is close to Christmas, it will be a celebration. I am inviting you to come and share the evening with me and other residents. We will have our usual table talk and share some nibbles.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
