Councillor Bill Moar has been elected as Mayor of Swan Hill Rural City Council for the next 12 months, following today’s Statutory Council Meeting.
It will be Cr Moar’s second term as Mayor. Cr Moar was Mayor from November 2019 to October 2020, prior to the Council election.
Councillors also elected Cr Jade Benham as Deputy Mayor.
Cr Moar acknowledged his fellow Councillors for re-electing him as Mayor.
“I’d like to thank my fellow Councilors for electing me as Mayor and look forward to working with them, as well as Council staff and the community during the next 12 months,” Cr Moar said.
“I’d also like to congratulate Cr Benham on her election as Deputy Mayor.
“No doubt, 2020 has been a challenging year with the COVID-19 pandemic having significant impacts on our community, as well as our hospitality, tourism and retail businesses,” Cr Moar added.
“We are now starting to see a positive trend in terms of recovery from the pandemic, including the opening up of businesses and services.
“Together with Council, I also look forward to moving ahead with the many projects in the pipeline for our municipality, while ensuring Council’s core business of providing services and facilities to our community continues.”
The 2020/21 meeting schedule was also determined today, and will see Scheduled Council Meetings held on the third Tuesday of each month.
