About 12.10pm on Friday (28 July 2023), emergency services were called to Oxley Highway, Carroll, following reports of a two-vehicle crash.

On arrival, officers attached to Oxley Police District located a ute and an SUV that had collided.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a male driver at the scene. He was later taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The Oxley Highway is closed in both directions between Gunnedah and Carroll.

A crime scene has been established and inquiries have commenced into the incident.
