Creating a safer community together

Brimbank Council is encouraging residents to take part in Community Safety Month events this October and help us create a safer and stronger community.

said safety matters to everyone in our community – whether we’re at home, or out and about.

“We know that safety is essential to our health and wellbeing, and creating the kind of community that we all want, and deserve to be part of.

“Everyone has a role to play in keeping our community safe, healthy and connected – a place where people feel secure and comfortable.

“Community Safety Month brings together fun and practical safety events, and community get-togethers that promote safety at home and in the community.

“Staying connected and feeling safe are important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Come along and learn about community safety in your area”, Cr Congreve said.

Council and other organisations will offer a range of events and activities on topics including personal safety, crime prevention, community connection, road safety and staying safe during an emergency. Events include:

  • Firefighter Storytime session at St Albans Library
  • Free child car restraint fitting sessions (Kings Park, Delahey and Sunshine)
  • Community Safety Day at Sunshine Marketplace
  • Community Safety pop-up event at Sunshine railway station.

The activities and events during Community Safety Month form part of Brimbank’s Community Safety Strategy 2015-2019. The Strategy reflects our long-term vision for a safe, healthy and connected community.
