Creating Jobs: Flightpath Road Supporting New Local Development

A $6.2 million contract to construct a new road called’Flightpath Road’ was recently awarded to local contractor Allan King &Sons Construction Pty Ltd.

The Territory Labor Government is creating local jobs andsupporting private development by constructing this new industrial connectorroad in accordance with the Berrimah North Area Plan.

The project which will create a new intersection off AmyJohnson Avenue and will be located approximately 800 metres north of the StuartHighway – supporting more than 60 local jobs.

Construction of the new ‘Flightpath Road’ will provideimproved access to Berrimah North, including the Berrimah Industrial Precinct.

Key aspects of the new road include four ‘T’intersections, open stormwater drainage and an associated stormwater detentionbasin which will manage stormwater in this area.

Traffic management will be in place during constructionwith speed reductions and lane closures. Amy Johnson Road will remain openat all times.

Construction is scheduled to commence later this month, withworks anticipated to be finalised in December 2019.

As stated by the Minister for Infrastructure, Planningand Logistics, Eva Lawler:

The Territory Labor Governments priority is creating localjobs and supporting Territory businesses. This project alone will support morethan 60 jobs – this is why we are delivering continuous high levels ofinvestment in Government infrastructure projects.

Our Government is supporting and guiding future development no other Territory Government has been this serious and strategic about jobcreation and we will continue to contribute to creating jobs, improvingservices and attracting people to the Territory.
