Minister for WorkforceTraining Selena Uibo will today leave for Indonesia, where she will lead an educationindustry delegation aimed at boosting student numbers from the country by 20per cent before the end of 2020.
The focus of the four day missionis promoting the Territorys strong Vocational Education and Training (VET)sector and putting the NT on the map as a leading provider of quality educationwith one of our closest neighbours.
The 14 person delegation willattend the inaugural Indonesia Vocational Education and Training Summit inJakarta, along with an education agent briefing and two Alumni and Friends ofthe Territory events.
The delegation includesrepresentatives from private training providers, Charles Darwin University, theDepartment of Education and the Department of Trade, Business and Innovation.
The overseas industrydelegation is a key part of the Territory Labor Governments seven year InternationalEducation and Training Strategy, released in April.
It aims to grow the Territoryspopulation of overseas students from the current 2500 to 10,000 by 2025 andincrease the markets contribution to the local economy to more than $300 million.
