Orange Regional Museum is calling for artists to create works in response to objects from its permanent collection, through its Creative Collections project.
Artists working in any artform are invited to submit expressions of interest to develop a creative response to an item from the Museum’s collection.
Works developed from successful expressions of interest will be acquired by the Museum and may be used in exhibitions, public and education programs and promotions.
Orange City Council’s Services Policy Committee Chair Marea Ruddy said the Museum’s growing collection contained many intriguing and diverse items, each with its own fascinating story.
“This project aims to interpret the collection in new ways and challenge traditional concepts of local history by highlighting alternative perspectives on our region,” Cr Ruddy said.
Orange Regional Museum staff have compiled a shortlist of objects to choose from and artists should identify a concept in their expression of interest.
Expressions of interest close at 5pm on Friday 20 December and the successful artists will be announced in late January 2025.
Successful artists will be asked to present their works in a public program tentatively scheduled for July 2025.
