Wyndham City Council will limit the ability for Macson Developments to release further land parcels until they honour their commitment to residents in Creekstone Estate.
Parents and children in Creekstone Estate are currently running the gauntlet each day in their bid to get to school due to the developer’s failure to deliver a signalised traffic intersection and bridge.
After years of trying to work constructively with the developers, Wyndham City Council has taken the significant step of refusing all further Statement of Compliance documents for Macson Developments Creekstone Estate until they honour their commitments to Council.
A Statement of Compliance is a critical step in the development of land. Macson signed an agreement with Council that no further Statement of Compliance documents would be released unless agreed infrastructure was completed by the end of 2023. Macson have not completed this infrastructure and so Council is refusing to issue Statement of Compliance.
Wyndham Council has joined local MP, Member for Tarneit, Sarah Connolly in demanding the developer fast track deliver this vital infrastructure for residents in Creekstone Estate.
Wyndham Mayor, Cr Jennie Barrera said, “Residents of Creekstone Estate have had enough of taking their life in their hands just to complete everyday tasks like travelling to school and work.”
“When they bought they had a reasonable expectation that the developer would prioritise delivery of vital infrastructure to make the intersection at Doherty’s Road safe.”
Deputy Mayor, Cr Josh Gilligan said “Council’s position sends a clear message to developers: either you deliver on your promises or Wyndham will stop you leeching money from our community.”
“Wyndham will stand up for local families against developers taking the profit of land sales and then failing to deliver promised infrastructure to make our communities liveable.”
Member for Tarneit, Sarah Connolly MP said, “Families have spoken to my office about their safety concerns, forcing families into vehicles when they should be able to walk or cycle to local schools.”
“I hear too often from the local community that the dream they buy from developers isn’t a reality once families move to the community and families in Wyndham deserve better.”
