As part of our commitment to umpire development, Cricket Victoria (CV) hosts a series of umpiring lectures and training sessions during the off-season each year. These sessions are designed to provide umpires with comprehensive theoretical knowledge of the MCC Laws of Cricket.
Incorporating the latest updates to the MCC Laws effective from October 1, 2024, this year’s program promises to be insightful and educational. Scheduled for June 18th and 23rd, 2024, the Umpire Development Program will offer a blend of theory and practical sessions aimed at equipping umpires with enhanced knowledge and skills.
Led by experienced facilitators with extensive state and national panel experience, the program will commence with a focus on the Laws of Cricket on Tuesday, June 18th, conducted in person at the CitiPower Centre.
Concluding on Sunday, June 23rd, the final session will feature practical activities and group discussions, also held in person at the CitiPower Centre. CV’s State Umpire Coaches will oversee the program, assessing each umpire’s performance and knowledge. Your performance may also warrant selection onto the Premier Cricket Umpire Panel.
Following the program, there will be an optional exam to test your understanding of the Laws of Cricket. This exam is compulsory only for those seeking selection onto the Premier Panel for the 2024-25 season.
