Criminal Groups Squad charge alleged gunman in Marvin Oraiha fatal shooting

Criminal Groups Squad detectives have charged the second of the two alleged gunmen in the fatal shooting of Marvin Oraiha last year.

About 4pm on Monday 22 May 2023, emergency services were called to Hertfordshire Street in Elizabeth Hills, following reports of a shooting.

On arrival, officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command located a 24-year-old man suffering several gunshot wounds.

Despite the efforts of police and NSW Ambulance paramedics, the man died at the scene.

He has since been identified as Marvin Oraiha.

A short time later, emergency services were called to Cave Close in Green Valley and Lewis Street in Bonnyrigg Heights following reports of two car fires.

Subsequently, crime scenes were established and forensically examined at all three locations.

Liverpool detectives – with assistance from the Homicide Squad – commenced inquiries before State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad and Task Force Magnus took carriage of the investigation under Strike Force Hackenburg.

Seven people have been previously charged and remain before the courts.

Following further extensive inquiries, about 4.45am today (Wednesday 18 December 2024), strike force detectives executed a search warrant in Villawood, where they arrested a 24-year-old man.

The man was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with murder, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and participate criminal group contribute criminal.

He was refused bail to appear in Fairfield Local Court today.

Police will allege in court the man was the second of the two alleged gunmen in the fatal shooting.
