Rushworth’s FReeZA committee is celebrating the success of their Magical Movie Trivia Night held at the Rushworth Shire Hall on Friday, 28 July. Over 80 keen trivia buffs came along to battle it out across the tables for the coveted prize pack.
Mayor Rob Amos said that it was an absolutely fantastic turnout for the community and showed a great appetite for youth focused events in the town.
“The event was largely run by students from the Rushworth P-12 in partnership with Campaspe’s FReeZA Committee and they did a fantastic job, from creating all of the questions to producing the marketing material for the event.
The winning team named “We Showed Up!” made up of Jack Armstrong, Adam Weatherhead and Caleb Stokes took home the sought after prize pack. In addition to the trivia questions, teams earned points by attending in costumes of their favourite movie characters such as Harry Potter, Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Disney.
FReeZA is a state government initiative that supports young Victorians between the ages of 12-25 years to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, alcohol, vape and smoke-free events.
“It was an empowering experience for the group and taught them a number of skills including event planning and design, greeting guests, public speaking, and teamwork that will be beneficial moving forward.
“We look forward to supporting young people across the shire in running future events,” said Mayor Amos.
