One lucky local ‘roo has hopped all the way from the remote beaches of Crowdy Head to two of the world’s busiest tourist destinations in London and New York, after scoring a starring role in Tourism Australia’s latest campaign.
‘Don’t Go Small, Go Australia’ will feature the photograph taken at Crowdy Bay ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Park on London’s Piccadilly Lights, the largest advertising display in Europe, and in Times Square in New York. The New York site stretches an entire city-block.
The photo was captured by Mark Fitzpatrick in 2018 and used in the launch of Barrington Coast, MidCoast Council’s destination brand.
“We’re thrilled that an image of our region was selected to represent Australia and entice international visitors to the country,” said Council’s Manager for Growth, Economic Development and Tourism, Deb Tuckerman.
“MidCoast Council and Destination Barrington Coast have worked tirelessly to build awareness of our region domestically and it’s great to see we are attracting interest from visitors from across the world.
“Featuring at sites as significant as Times Square, it’s clear that MidCoast is well and truly on the map and this is really uplifting news for locals, especially small business owners, after a tough few years.”
