Lithgow City Council has completed construction of the new Cullen Bullen Sewerage Scheme. The scheme, jointly funded by Council and the NSW Government, has delivered a new reticulated sewerage system and sewerage treatment plant to service the Cullen Bullen village.
Maree Statham, Mayor of Lithgow City Council officially opened the plant at a ceremony on Wednesday morning attended by representatives of the Council, NSW State Member, The Hon. Paul Toole MP and Federal Member, The Hon. Andrew Gee MP.
On the benefits of the sewerage treatment plant Mayor Statham, said, “This scheme will have a profound and positive impact for the people of Cullen Bullen. Delivering quality infrastructure is key for thriving communities. I am so pleased to see that this project has come to fruition”.
The project will alleviate potential public health issues and environmental impacts from the previous multiple onsite sewer management systems. The new system collects sewerage from private properties and transports it to the new treatment plant for processing. The new system will be able to cater for the existing village population and for the long-term future of the village.
Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty said, “This is a significant project for the Cullen Bullen community and it’s great to see this sewerage scheme has now been completed.”
The Council thanked the NSW government for its financial contribution to the scheme and the community for its patience in the project’s delivery.
