Residents, people with disability, parents and carers are invited to learn how to maximise their ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) plans at a free information session in April.
Council is partnering with Uniting, an NDIS partner, to provide a ‘Getting The Most Out of Your NDIS Plan’ information session on Thursday 27 April.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake said she hoped the information session would help improve NDIS outcomes for participants, their families and carers.
“Council has an extensive and inclusive NDIS program, so this session is a great way for our community members to learn more about the NDIS and explore how it can help them, especially for those who may be new to the program,” she said.
“The NDIS can help improve the lives of people with a disability by helping them achieve greater independence, community involvement, education, employment, and better health and wellbeing opportunities. It also provides additional support and certainty for carers and families.”
This free face to face session will cover topics including how to prepare for your planning meeting, understanding how NDIS plans work, what the NDIS support categories are and how to maximise the funding.
The session also aims to empower individuals to search and connect with services they might need.
Getting the most out of your NDIS plan information session is a two-hour session held on Thursday 27 April at the Guildford Community Centre from 10am to 12 noon. Food and refreshments will be provided.
The ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is designed to help participants get the support they need, help build skills, build independence and improve the lives of people with a disability.
