The Elliott Reserve playground in Currarong has undergone an exciting upgrade thanks to NSW Government funding.
New swings, slides and see-saws will delight and entertain the local community, transforming the once tired area into a colourful adventure playground.
Liza Butler, State Member for the South Coast, said the overhaul of the Elliott Reserve playground equipment was perfectly timed as the days got longer and warmer.
“Currarong is a beautiful spot and the new playground equipment will make this reserve a drawcard for our active kids and families in the area,” Ms Butler said.
“We know how important the great outdoors is for both our mental and physical wellbeing so this playground makeover promises to provide a great boost for the local community,” she said.
“Green spaces and playgrounds that entertain and engage really do improve the amenity of our communities and I’m proud that we could help deliver this revamp.”
The new playground equipment includes:
- Combination slide tower
- Double bay swing set
- See-saw
- Rocker
- Spinning disk
- Game panels
- Nature play area
- Rubber soft fall and mulch soft fall areas
Mayor Patricia White said the transformation of the reserve was thanks to both the input from the community on the playground equipment, and a grant from the NSW Government.
“We’re proud to unveil the renovated Elliott Reserve which guarantees to keep the kids active while the grownups can enjoy the new look and feel of the park,” Cr White said.
“Located near the local skate park, and just a short walk away from Crookhaven Bight and the Currarong Rock Pools, it’s certain to be a popular place for visitors and locals alike”, she said.
“The new equipment provides a safe and enjoyable space for the community to come together and make Currarong an even better place to live.”
The project was enabled by a $167,200 in funding provided by the NSW Government.
