THE Corangamite Film Festival begins screening next Wednesday, for the fourth year, in various locations across the shire.
The festival begins with a screening of Maudie (Sally Hawkins, 2016) in the Derrinallum Community Hall and ends with the oddball documentary Big in Japan screening in Port Campbell Arts Space.
Other screenings within the festival include a double session with Cherry Blossoms (Elmar Wepper, 2008) and Swiss Army Man (Daniel Radcliffe, 2016), a band-accompanied screening of Safety Last (Harold Lloyd, 1923) and a demonstration of the St Kilda Film Festival highlights at the Theatre Royal in Camperdown.
To coincide with the final picture, there will be a Q&A session with local filmmaker Lachlan McLeod, director of Big in Japan.
Tickets cost $10 for Maudie, Safety Last and Big in Japan, while the St Kilda Film Festival and the double session cost $15.
This event will be held thanks to a grant from the Corangamite Shire to assist covering the costs for promoting and running the event.
A spokesperson for the Corangamite Film Society is thrilled with the assistance.
“We’re grateful for the Shire to make these grants available to community groups,” they said.
“Without this support, it would be difficult to bring these films to Corangamite Shire.”
