Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are heading to the scene of a collision in Gardenvale where a cyclist sustained life-threatening injuries.
Emergency services were called to Nepean Highway, near the intersection of North Road, where a car and cyclist collided about 5.30am.
The male cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the car, a 37-year-old Parkdale man, stopped at the scene.
He will be interviewed by police in relation to the incident.
Investigations are ongoing into the exact circumstances of the collision.
There is heavy traffic citybound on Nepean Highway and motorists can expect delays in the area.
