Dangerous driving and unlawful use charges in Hawthorne, QLD

Police have arrested two men following investigations involving a Porsche allegedly stolen from a Hawthorne address on Wednesday, June 28.

Police will allege around 4pm, June 28, a 29-year-old Redbank Plains man entered a Govett Avenue home, stealing keys and personal items, using the keys to steal a Porsche and fleeing the scene by driving through the garage door.

Police will further allege shortly after midday, June 29, the vehicle was seen in the Inala area continuing to be driven dangerously through Wacol and Oxley amid several petrol thefts and attempted thefts in these areas.

Police used a tyre deflation device in Indooroopilly and the Porsche allegedly continued through the Legacy Way Tunnel before exiting in Herston and crashing into two cars on Bowen Bridge Road.

The Porsche came to a stop at the busway near a worksite and a man allegedly got out of the car and attempted to steal a work truck which was blocked by an excavator.

The man allegedly fled the truck on foot, chased by members of the public and was apprehended a short distance away by Police.

The 29-year-old man was charged with four counts of stealing, two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, disqualified driving, enter dwelling and commit, wilful damage and obstruct police officer. He is due to appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

An 18-year-old man was apprehended in Inala at about 5pm on June 29, in addition to other unrelated charges he was charged with unlawful use of the Porsche. He is due to face Richlands Magistrates Court today.
