Dangerous driving appeal in Avoca, QLD

Police are appealing for witnesses following an alleged dangerous driving incident involving a white van in Avoca this afternoon, February 4.

Emergency services were called to Takalvan Street at approximately 1.10pm following reports of a single-vehicle rollover.

Upon arrival, a 36-year-old Alloway man was located with non-life-threatening injures near the overturned white van.

Following an alleged altercation, he was taken into police custody and transported to Bundaberg Hospital for treatment.

He has since been charged with one count each of dangerous driving of a vehicle (adversely affected by an intoxicating substance), drive uninsured, drive unregistered, drive unlicenced, fail to comply with duties of driver involved in crash, obstruct police, and fail to provide specimen of breath or blood.

The 36-year-old Alloway man has been denied police bail and is due to appear at Bundaberg Magistrates Court tomorrow, February 5.

It will be alleged the van, a white 2001 Ford, was involved in multiple traffic crashes prior to the rollover.

Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with dashcam footage in the vicinity of Heidke or Takalvan streets around the time of the alleged incident, to come forward.

Motorists travelling along Childers Road near Bundaberg who may have witnessed the van allegedly driving dangerously are also urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
