Dangerous driving charges at Deception Bay, QLD

Police have charged two men after a stolen vehicle was allegedly driven on the wrong side of Deception Bay road overnight.

It will be alleged at 10.24pm police observed a stolen Ford SUV disobey a red light on Morris Road at Rothwell.

Polair was tasked to track the stolen vehicle.

At 10.55pm the SUV cross to the wrong side of Deception Bay Road and continued travelling in the wrong direction for approximately four minutes. Other road users had to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The vehicle continued on the wrong side of the road into Ashmole Road and proceeded through a red light into Scarborough Road, still on the wrong side of the road.

At 11.12pm police successfully deployed a tyre deflation device in Griffith Road at Newport before the SUV came to a stop in Killara Crescent.

Two men were arrested shortly after in neighbouring yards.

It will be alleged sometime overnight on Friday, February 28, the Ford SUV was stolen from a carport in Shayne Avenue at Deception Bay.

It will be further alleged that on March 3 and 5 a man failed to pay for fuel at a service station on Anzac Avenue at Mango Hill.

A 29-year-old Kallangur man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, burglary, unlicensed driving, unlawful possession of a category R weapon (conducted energy weapon), offence involving registration certificate (false plates), tainted property and two counts of stealing.

He will next appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on March 19.

A 21-year-old Deception Bay man has been charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and he will next appear at the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on March.
