Police have arrested three alleged burglars who brought a 9-year-old boy with them as they broke into a Drewvale home before fleeing officers at high speed yesterday afternoon.
It will be alleged at around 1.20pm two men, a woman and a boy known to them arrived in a ute at a Hume Street address.
The woman remained in the vehicle with the child while the two men allegedly forced entry into a home and stole property which they then loaded into the ute.
Witnesses notified police who arrived a short time later and observed the vehicle parked on Macquarie Way.
As police attempted to make an intercept a woman exited the vehicle while two men were seen to allegedly take control of the ute and speed away.
Officers spoke with the woman who allegedly claimed the vehicle had just been stolen from her with the boy inside also having been kidnapped.
PolAir was deployed to track the ute which was observed travelling in a dangerous manner through Mount Gravatt, proceeding through numerous red lights and narrowly missing other cars.
The vehicle allegedly continued to travel at high speed through the south Brisbane and Logan districts, at one stage crossing through a service station carpark and just missing three children who were crossing the road.
Police began to follow the ute along Mount Petrie Road as it continued to be driven dangerously before it eventually lost control and crashed into a power pole on Winstanley Road in Carina Heights.
Two men allegedly fled from the vehicle however were quickly arrested by police.
The child was safely recovered from the ute, uninjured.
