Dangerous operation charges in Westcourt, QLD

A man has been charged after being intercepted allegedly driving dangerously and crashing a Subaru Impreza into two police vehicles.

Around 1.30am officers observed a black Subaru Impreza with false registration plates allegedly travelling at speed towards them and then turn sharply into Ishmael Road in an attempt to avoid police.

Police attempted to intercept the sedan when it will be alleged the driver accelerated away at speed on the incorrect side of Toogood Road.

It will be alleged the sedan continued driving dangerously on the incorrect side of the road and speeding through intersections.

A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on Bicentennial Road at Mount Sheridan.

It continued to travel on one tyre and rims before it will be alleged the driver rammed the sedan into the rear of a marked police vehicle as it was entering the Bruce Highway from an on-ramp, causing extensive damage.

The Impreza approached Sandown Close in Woree where it then side-swiped another unmarked police vehicle before crossing onto the incorrect side of Mulgrave Road and crashing through a fence.

The driver, a 29-year-old Mooroobool man, has been charged evade police, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

Officers from the Cairns Property Crime Unit carried out further investigations today and as a result of property located during searches have charged the man with unlawful possession of Category A firearm, unlawful possess of explosives (Ammunition) and possession of dangerous drugs (Methylamphetamine).

The man has been refused police bail to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
