The Property Council of Australia has appointed Danni Hunter as its new Victorian Executive Director at this critical time in the state’s economic recovery.
Ms Hunter is currently the CEO of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (Victoria) where she has represented the urban development industry for the past six years. She has previously worked with the Property Council and held senior positions in the Victorian State Government and the private sector, and as a non-executive director.
Property Council Chief Executive Ken Morrison said Ms Hunter was the right person to lead the organisation in Victoria, at a time where the industry was being given the Government mandate to lead Victoria’s economic recovery effort after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Danni is a strong leader, a passionate advocate and knows how important the industry will be for Victoria’s economic recovery,” Mr Morrison said.
“She has been a leading voice in key policy debates in Victoria for many years and is well respected across industry and government.
“We are delighted that Danni will be joining the Property Council’s executive team at this crucial time in Victoria,” said Mr Morrison.
Ms Hunter said that she was thrilled to take up the position of Victorian Executive Director of the Property Council at such an important juncture for the industry and for Victoria’s economic recovery.
“The Victorian Government’s recent State Budget was more than a vote of confidence in the property industry – it was a flashing green light, and we are ready to go.
“The 300,000 Victorians who work in property, construction and development industry are getting to work to build Victoria’s recovery.
“State and federal government stimulus and investment in our post-COVID recovery effort will lock in jobs, create new housing and new communities, and evolve the way we use our spaces and places. Our cities and our regions will tell a positive story of recovery and growth for years to come.
“While Victoria is now thankfully out of lockdown, the state will still face tremendous challenges as its economy recovers. The property industry is resilient and highly adaptable, and I look forward to leading the Property Council in Victoria as we work with our members to evolve the way everyone uses and interacts with property and our built form.
“The property industry will play a central role in Victoria’s economic recovery and I look forward to working with Government policy makers and decision makers as we build Victoria’s recovery together,” said Ms Hunter.
Ms Hunter will commence her new role on 11 January 2021. She joins the Property Council after former Executive Director Cressida Wall was appointed to the role of CEO of Office or Projects Victoria last month.
Mr Morrison also thanked Deputy Executive Director Matthew Kandelaars who will continue to lead the Victorian division in an interim capacity until the new year.
