Dapto A&H Society Refutes Claims
Dapto A&H Society refutes out of hand claims in today’s Daily Telegraph relating to proposals for the future use of the land.
A spokesperson for Dapto A&H Society said:
“This is a beat up. These are draft plans and far from being a secret they have been the subject of numerous discussions with greyhound authorities for more than 12 months.
“This land was gifted to the community hundreds of years ago and today it remains a vital community asset where thousands of people enjoy regular night markets and local rugby as well as the local show. It is our responsibility to act in the interests of the entire community to ensure a viable future for this area not just one user of the area.
“The public statements by GRNSW are in direct contradiction of the facts of our relationship with GRNSW over the past year: we have consulted in good faith and have outlined openly our evaluation of the long term future of the site. We have at all times kept them informed of financial matters and both these points are demonstrated by email exchanges.
“The Supreme Court has raised real questions about the legitimacy of GRNSW’s actions in seeking to appoint an administrator to DAHS including questioning whether there is a proper basis to appoint an administrator and whether the administrator proposed has the appropriate qualifications.
“We believe the showgrounds and facilities at Dapto are a precious local community asset and its current and future use should be determined by the community as a whole not one isolated user of the facilities.
