Police are releasing dashcam vision in an appeal for information following a public place shooting at Auburn yesterday (Wednesday 23 October 2024), under Strike Force Martorell.
Shortly after 3pm, police were called to Chisholm Street, Auburn, following reports shots were fired at three people who were standing near a parked car.
Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and found several shots had been fired into a home and a vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
A short time later, about 3.20pm, police attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were called to reports of a car fire at Haughton Street, Carramar.
The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW.
The burnt-out vehicle and a second vehicle were seized to undergo forensic examination.
The shooting is believed to be targeted. Both incidents are believed to be linked, with investigations continuing under Strike Force Martorell.
As inquiries are ongoing, police are releasing dashcam vision of two men seen setting fire to the vehicle at Carramar.
One of the men is believed to have suffered significant burns to his leg during the incident.
The two men, who were both seen dressed in black, were seen running from the scene towards Heiden Park and Prospect Creek.
Police are asking for anyone who was in the vicinity of Heiden Park and Prospect Creek about 3.20pm, who may have dashcam vision or saw the two men, to come forward.
A number of items were subsequently located near Prospect Creek and seized by police.
Police established crime scenes at both locations and, with assistance from specialist police, conducted a canvas of the areas.
