Date set for international wrestling show to hit the ring in Wagga Wagga

One of the world’s top wrestling brands is heading to Wagga Wagga, with IMPACT Wrestling presenting their Down Under Tour in the city in late June, early July.

The stars of IMPACT Wrestling will be in Wagga Wagga from Thursday 29 June for four days of activities, including two marquee wrestling shows on Friday 30 June and Saturday, 1 July, both at the Multi-Purpose Stadium (MPS) at the Equex Centre.

Supported by the NSW Government’s Regional Events Acceleration Fund, the IMPACT Down Under Tour replaces the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) Oceania Cup, which was to be hosted in Wagga Wagga, but has been postponed.

Managing Director of Australia-based GLO Sports Cam Vale said the company was proud to facilitate the partnership between IMPACT

Wrestling and the NSW Government.

“GLO Sports was proud to facilitate the partnership between IMPACT Wrestling and the NSW Government,” Mr Vale said. “The way IMPACT Wrestling has been able to come in and support this event on short notice has been phenomenal and a testament to their international ambitions.

“The broadcast reach of this event will be significant; it will drive economic activity and showcase the Equex MPS as a multi-sport venue capable of hosting international events.

“The patient support shown by Wagga Wagga City Council during the process of finding a way to ensure this wrestling event continued has been invaluable.

“It is now time to look to engage all levels of the community and business in the event and I look forward to doing so through May and early June, as there are many opportunities to partner with suppliers, casual staffing, food vendors and many more to deliver a great event.”
