Cricket Victoria is pleased to confirm the appointment of David Hussey as the organisation’s new Head of Male Cricket.

In his new role, Hussey will oversee all aspects of Victorian cricket’s male high performance program, including the state program and the integration with Premier Cricket as well as working with the Big Bash General Managers.

Hussey represented Australia more than 100 times after first representing Victoria in the 2002-03 season. He went on to play 192 First-Class matches and 260 List-A matches.

Since his retirement, Hussey has held a several senior coaching roles around the world, including as current BBL Head Coach of the Melbourne Stars and as an assistant coach with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

Hussey will remain in his role with the Melbourne Stars through to the completion of the KFC BBL|12 season.

“David brings a wealth of experience as a player and coach and a strong understanding of developing current and future generations,” Graham Manou, Cricket Victoria’s General Manager Cricket Performance said.

“I look forward to working closely with David and our broader team to build our platform for future success in men’s cricket. Victoria has a proud history of producing some of the best players in the world and we intend to continue.”

Cricket Victoria CEO Nick Cummins welcomed the news.

“We’re really pleased to have David in the organisation in a broader role and having a real impact on the future success and direction of our male cricket program in Victoria. David joins Sharelle McMahon (Head of Female Cricket) and Dean Russ (Head of Talent Development) as senior leaders in our cricket performance department under Graham Manou,” Cummins said.

“Given David’s BBL coaching role with the Stars, Graham will manage specific aspects of the program that relate to the Melbourne Renegades until the full transition occurs early in 2023.”

Hussey commences in the role immediately.
