The CommBank ParaMatildas delivered a dominant 9-2 victory over Ireland, led by a stunning four-goal performance from the dynamic Annmarie De Uriate.
The result keeps the CommBank ParaMatildas firmly in contention for the Gold Medal Final on Tuesday afternoon, with the Australians maintaining their undefeated record at the 2024 IFCPF Women’s World Cup.
Midway through the second half, the scores were locked at 1-all, leaving the match hanging in the balance. A sensational three-minute burst of football saw the Australians score three quick goals to seize the lead before halftime.
In their first-ever clash, Australia’s goal-scoring power proved decisive, with Annmarie De Uriate netting four goals and Georgia Beikoff playing a key role in the attack. Versatile goalkeeper Katelyn Smith showcased her incredible skill set by scoring twice – once from a free kick and once from a goal kick – proving she’s as effective up front as she is in goal.
Though far from home, both teams were backed by passionate supporters who created an electric atmosphere with their spirited chants.
After a tightly contested start, Australia’s late first-half surge secured control of the match, with four more goals in the second half sealing their fourth consecutive victory.
The CommBank ParaMatildas will take on Denmark in their final group-stage match on Monday, 18 November at 2:15 pm CET (12:15 am AEDT, Tuesday 19 November). A win would guarantee their place in the IFCPF Women’s World Cup final for the second year running.
