Northern Territory Police are investigating the death of a 63-year-old woman after a vehicle fire on the Stuart Highway near Daly Waters.
Around 12:30pm on Friday 31 July 2020, police and medical staff from the Mataranka Clinic responded to a report that a female had suffered serious burns after being exposed to a vehicle fire which started in the cargo space of a Holden Commodore utility. Police understand the female was travelling in the open space of the utility at the time of the fire.
The woman was treated for serious burn injuries and was flown to Darwin by CareFlight. Sadly on the afternoon of Saturday 1 August the female passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital.
