The December Street Party Incentive Program is offered to residents of the City of Burnside to encourage the community to host street parties; identifying the month of December as a prime and opportune month that communities might want to come together to celebrate. These types of self-organised events have the potential to promote community cohesiveness across the City.
The costs associated with having a street party include the cost of closing the road (signage, advertising, development of traffic management plans) and are currently $330 for a road closure with a street party on a weekday, and $430 for a weekend day closure.
The duration of parties can be no longer than 4 hours (maximum) and must finish no later than 10 pm. Opportunities for parties on weekends are limited to three per weekend and awarded on a first-in basis.
The December Street Party Incentive Program offers a flat fee of $100 for all expenses related to road closures associated with street parties during the month of December 2019.
