The Andrews Labor Government is helping to deliver an improved library for Dingley Village to better serve the community’s needs.
Minister for Local Government Adem Somyurek visited the Dingley Village Library site today to announce the start of works, which are being supported by a $750,000 grant from the Labor Government’s Living Libraries Infrastructure Program.
The $3.25 million redevelopment of the library will ensure the facility is able to service and support the rapidly growing Kingston community.
The redevelopment is the first stage of Kingston Council’s broader Dingley Village Library and Neighbourhood House Precinct Redevelopment and will see the library remodelled to provide access to an outdoor play and sitting area.
The upgrade will also focus on delivering meeting and study rooms to allow for adult learning and community use, as well as a community reading room.
The project will deliver a more efficient and better-connected library to give more opportunity to attract a wider demographic and bring together users of the site and is expected to be completed in February 2020.
The Labor Government has invested more than $18 million dollars into 59 infrastructure projects through the Living Libraries Infrastructure Program, worth $154 million in total.
The program helps Victorian councils and regional library corporations provide high quality infrastructure to meet their community’s changing needs.
