City of Darwin has awarded the detailed design tender for Stage One deliverables of the Bundilla Beach Masterplan to leading provider of consulting and engineering services, RPS.
RPS’s detailed design scope for the Stage One deliverables includes revitalisation of the Bundilla Beach waterfront and parkland area, updated connections to the beach edge, as well as a new dog park, public toilets, recreational facilities and the installation of new lighting and CCTV.
City of Darwin Lord Mayor Kon Vatskalis said he was looking forward to seeing the masterplan come to life.
“The Bundilla Beach Masterplan project was launched with the intention to activate and transform the amenity of the area for locals and visitors,” Mr Vatskalis said.
“Phases two and three of the masterplan will reflect the medium and long-term uses of the Bundilla Beach area and we have worked closely with the community to ensure their desires are captured within the final plan, which will be shared in early 2024.
“Activating this valued part of Darwin will deliver a refreshed space for the community and visitors to enjoy our green spaces, with flow-on benefits for local businesses,” he said.
City of Darwin has invested $500,000, supported by a $3 million commitment from the Northern Territory Government, to develop the masterplan and deliver the first stage of works.
Construction of Stage One of the masterplan is expected to commence during dry season 2024.
“Long-term, our aspiration for Bundilla Beach is to ensure the area functions as a cool, green and biodiverse natural habitat for both wildlife and people to enjoy,” Mr Vatskalis said.
