A detective senior constable from Eastern Region has been charged following an internal investigation.
The male officer has been charged with theft, destruction of evidence and common law assault.
It is alleged the incident occurred in February 2018 whilst the member was on duty.
The 56-year-old will appear at a court at a later date.
