Plans are underway to review the Master Plan for the Victoria Park precinct, including Scenic Drive area. In addition, detailed design for a multi-purpose building within Victoria Park are also underway.

Campaspe Shire Council General Manager Development, Mr Paul McKenzie said as part of the design component of the project, community groups are being asked to come forward if they think the multi-purpose building may be able to support their club into the future.

“We know a number of community groups already use the area, including the Echuca Football Netball Club, Echuca Cricket Club, the CFA and Echuca Moama Water Sports Club,” Mr McKenzie said.

“In progressing the detailed design we are looking at other groups that may use the building, what the needs of the broader community are, all to inform the design.”

The detailed design will need to meet a number of facility guidelines, including AFL, cricket and netball. Discussions are already underway with the relevant clubs.

Another component of the project is a review of the Master Plan, finalised in consultation with the community and user groups in 2019.

“Since the plan was completed, several changes from what was originally envisaged have occurred, mostly as a result of construction of the Echuca Moama second bridge project,” Mr McKenzie said.

“These changes made some components of the existing plan no longer feasible. For example, the original plan saw the bridge approach as being above the ground, with clear access available underneath through the former school site.”

“An update is now required to take account of the changes and to ensure the plan meets the needs of active and passive users, the community and Council.”

“Both projects will inform the costs involved, identify staging options of works, to support future funding applications and options.”

“No construction works will take place until funding has been secured.”

Community groups are asked to respond by Friday, 21 January either by:
