The Digital Transformation Agency is pleased to announce that the Digital Marketplace Panel 2 is now open on BuyICT.gov.au.
This new marketplace is designed to meet the digital requirements of the Australian Government by bringing together government buyers and digital sellers in a simple and transparent environment.
A total of 1,346 sellers have now been onboarded and available to sell digital and ICT services.
“Our Digital Marketplace Panel 2 is a pivotal part of our strategy to transform the way the government procures digital products and services,” said Chris Fechner, CEO of the Digital Transformation Agency.
“We are committed to making the process easier, faster, and more cost-effective for government agencies to access the best digital solutions available. We aim to cultivate a fair and competitive environment for sellers and to nurture a vibrant and diverse digital ecosystem in Australia.”
What’s new for DMP2
Under the Digital Marketplace Panel 2, government buyers will find suppliers of:
- Module 1: ICT labour hire
- Module 2: ICT professional and consulting services
The panel has been designed to allow future panel consolidation using a ‘module’ concept – so other modules such as hardware, software and cloud may be added in the future.
DMP2 also offers significant benefits for small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs). We conducted extensive research to improve the way government sources digital and ICT services. Our work included feedback from 1,194 buyer users, 2,269 seller users, 225 labour hire candidates, 4 industry bodies, and 10 domestic and international panel managers.
By providing a robust and competitive panel, the DMP2 ensures that SMEs have the opportunity to participate in government procurement. The platform’s transparency in ICT labour hire and professional services procurements supports data-driven investment decisions by the government, which can lead to more opportunities for SMEs.
Additionally, the DMP2’s commitment to equity and participation for SMEs and Indigenous businesses makes it easier for these businesses to engage with government buyers and expand their operations
“It is important to note that the Digital Marketplace Panel 2 is not a one-off opportunity,” underscores Mr Fechner. “It is a flexible panel that enables new suppliers to apply or existing suppliers to apply new categories through regular requests for tender.
Sellers who were not successful in this round, and those sellers who wish to add more categories, will have an opportunity to re-apply when DMP2 re-opens for applications in late November 2024.
Transitioning to DMP2
To ensure a smooth transition to the new and improved marketplace, the DTA previously announced it would extend the current Digital Marketplace Panel to 31 January 2025. Further information about the transition of the new marketplace can be found on BuyICT.gov.au.
