Disability Sports Australia announces Murray Elbourn as Chief Executive Officer

Disability Sports Australia (DSA) is delighted to announce the appointment of Murray Elbourn as Chief Executive Officer. Murray will assume the role from Monday, 16 November 2020.

DSA Chairman John Croll AM said Murray was chosen after an extensive and competitive selection process. “Murray is an outstanding choice, bringing a wealth of experience from international corporate roles as well as being an athlete, coach and sports administrator.”

“Murray’s appointment marks an exciting time for Disability Sports Australia and the Board is looking forward to working with Murray to deliver on the organisations strategic plan to provide opportunities for Australians with a disability so they can be more active, more often.”

Mr Elbourn previously held the position of Disability Inclusion Manager at Sport NSW, CEO of Blind Sports NSW and Chair of Goalball Australia. In all three roles, Murray lead significant programs for people with a range of disabilities, increasing participation, revenue and advocacy of the sector.

With more than 25 years of experience in the disability sports sector, Murray is excited to lead the growth of Disability Sports Australia in the future. “I feel very fortunate to be given this opportunity, to lead such a strong organisation within the disability sporting sector. I’m looking forward to working effectively with my team, the board and our partners to collaborate and deliver our strategic plan.”

Prior to his roles at Sport NSW and Blind Sports NSW, Murray served as ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Client Services Manager at Energy Action and Internal Business Manager at E Utility and Konica Minolta in the United States. Murray has most recently also sat on the NSW Office of Sport COVID-19 Sport Recovery Group as the representative across the disability sports sector. Disability Sports Australia welcomes Murray to the team.
