The paper provides an overview of current arrangements for oversight of police critical incidents in the Northern Territory, summarises the arrangements in other jurisdictions, and sets out what I consider to be some policy matters that would benefit from further discussion and debate.
In preparing this paper I have consulted with the Police Commissioner and the Ombudsman. I am grateful for their input and support.
