Today marks International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) – a day to raise awareness for the work still needed to combat discrimination against LGBTQIA+ communities.
Bayside CEO Mick Cummins said Council is committed to supporting our LGBTQIA+ community and addressing intolerance.
“IDAHOBIT Day is an opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion by showing solidarity against discrimination of any kind,” he said.
“A key pillar of the is that every member of the community is celebrated, included and feels they belong,” he said.
“We stand with the LGBTQIA+ community and will work to ensure that everyone is welcome and respected in Bayside.”
Bayside permanently flies the rainbow flag at the Council Corporate Centre in Sandringham and marches in the Midsumma pride march to demonstrate our allyship with the LGBTQIA+ community.
