Keen to assist Council in addressing challenging dilemmas and making a difference in your community? Then this is an opportunity not to be missed.
Invitations are on their way to 10,000 randomly selected homes across the Mornington Peninsula, for our 2024 Citizens’ Panel.
Our golden tickets (in orange envelopes) will start landing in letterboxes today! If you’re lucky enough to receive a golden ticket, please use this rare opportunity wisely. We want you to join our panel and provide feedback to Council on challenging issues and subjects that matter to you!
Should a golden ticket land in your letterbox, register your interest before Sunday 3 March using the weblink in your letter.
From Monday 4 March an independent recruiter will select 55 people, representing a cross section of the Peninsula’s population to join the panel.
We’re not looking for any specific experience – we want a diverse mix of people from all corners of our Shire.
All we ask is that you’re willing and ready to listen, learn, attend eight sessions from April to November and share your opinions. Each member will receive an $800 voucher to thank them for their time.
Anyone 16+ who receives the invitation can apply and we’re happy to help with any technical, mobility, disability or language support.
This is fourth year we’ve recruited a Citizens’ Panel. A finalist in the , the purpose of this panel initiative is to seek feedback on a range of difficult and challenging topics, to help with our decision making. This process supports our , developed in 2021 by our first ever Citizens’ Panel.
Quotes attributable to Mayor Councillor Simon Brooks:
“I often hear that people don’t really understand how Council works, how decisions are made and where ratepayer’s money goes. Being a member of the 2024 Citizens’ Panel will give 55 lucky residents an exclusive seat at the table to deliberate on key issues, meet Councillors, Shire officers and other members of the Mornington Peninsula community.
“At its core, being on our Citizens’ Panel gives you the opportunity to contribute to real, tangible change. You’ll receive all the information you need before each session, so you can provide informed feedback to assist councillors with their decision making.
“If you’re fortunate enough to receive one our golden tickets, I strongly encourage you to jump online and register your interest.”
