South Australia’s Salaried Medical Officers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Government’s Enterprise Agreement offer.
A ballot of over 4,500 eligible SA Health Salaried Medical Officers resulted in 90 per cent of employees who returned a ballot voting in favour of the agreement.
Treasurer Rob Lucas welcomed the result, and it further demonstrates the Marshall Liberal Government’s continued investment in the state’s hardworking public health workforce and broader health system.
“We are delighted that our hardworking doctors and salaried medical officers in the public health system have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Government’s Enterprise Agreement offer, which gives exceptionally fair and reasonable salary increases and employment conditions,” said Mr Lucas.
“Throughout the global COVID-19 pandemic, our doctors and salaried medical officers, along with all frontline staff, have stepped up to keep South Australians safe and healthy.
“These doctors and salaried medical officers have been on the frontline of our COVID-19 response, and deserve our thanks for their tireless work, often in trying circumstances.
“This agreement is the culmination of respectful negotiations between all parties, and will ensure SA is well-placed to continue our strong recovery from the global pandemic.”
The proposed new three year agreement provides for annual pay rises of 1.5 per cent, and an increase in the minimal contractual terms of Trainee Medical Officers to three years.
