A drunk driver has been arrested after crashing into a police vehicle and leaving the scene early this morning.
About 12.30am Monday 20 April a police Dog Operations vehicle was travelling west on Grand Junction Road when it was struck by a grey Jeep that had been travelling north on Glenroy Street Pennington.
The grey Jeep allegedly did not stop leaving the scene of the crash.
Thankfully the police officer and PD Arnie were not injured and were able to provide a description of the Jeep to nearby patrols who searched the area.
A short time later the grey Jeep was located abandoned on Agnes Street, Ottoway. Patrols searched the area and arrested a 20-year-old St Clair man nearby. He recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.140 – nearly three times the legal limit for a fully licensed driver.
He has been charged with fail to stop at scene of a crash, fail to give way, drive without due care, drive unlicensed and drink driving. He was bailed to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on 20 October.
