Starting a new business is now easier in Wollongong with the launch of the Easy to do Business program.
Wollongong City Council has partnered with the NSW Government to provide help for business owners to navigate the licencing and approvals systems of all three levels of government.
The program assists all small businesses, with a particular focus on cafés, restaurants or small bars and the housing construction sector.
“This will make a real difference to the entrepreneurs in our community who are keen to start their own business and create more jobs,” Wollongong City Lord Mayor Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM said.
“Our Council is committed to ensuring the city is ‘open for business’ and Easy to do Business is a great initiative where we were keen to partner with the NSW Government.”
Participants in the program receive personal assistance from a Service NSW Business Concierge who will help them with everything from getting a development application right the first time, to applying for outdoor dining and liquor licensing if this is required.
There are also easy to understand how-to guides which help business owners understand the timelines, license requirements, regulations and fees involved in starting a business. They are available for the cafe, restaurant and small bar industry, the housing construction sector, as well as for road freight, clothing retail and printing services.
The Easy to do Business program will also help existing small businesses looking to expand their operations or move into new premises.
