Scott Morrison has turned Gough Whitlam’s “It’s Time” slogan against Bill Shorten, warning Australians that it was not the right moment to engage in an “experiment that puts our economy under unnecessary pressure”.
The Conservative Party agrees and is urging Australians to vote “1” Australian Conservatives in the Senate to ensure if Labor is elected, its toxic experimental socialist policies will be blocked.
In his final major address before tomorrow’s election, the Prime Minister appealed for voters to trust that he could deliver on their aspirations and warned a change in government would harm growth and job creation and deny Australians personal income tax cuts.
“Now is not the time to turn back,” Mr Morrison said. “I think Australians are not looking for big-spending , big-taxing programs directed up as vision.”
Mr Morrison said Australians wanted a government they could “rely on” and “someone they know they can really trust” .
He also offered his most personal appeal yet for the public’s support, saying he was driven by a hunger “burning deep within me” to help Australians realise their dreams.
“If Australians give me an opportunity on Saturday, they can be absolutely assured that I will burn for you every day. Every single day so you can achieve your ambitions, your aspirations, your desires,” Mr Morrison told the ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾ Press Club in Canberra. “That’s on top of what is my agenda. I’m for you.”
Taking aim at Labor’s pledge to turn the election into a referendum on wages, Mr Morrison argued that a Shorten government would slow the growth in people’s pay increases through its high-taxing , high-spending agenda.
Seeking to undercut Mr Shorten’s attempt to link his campaign with the historic election of Labor’s Gough Whitlam – who won office in 1972 under the famous It’s Time slogan – Mr Morrison declared that he was “just getting started” delivering on his own political agenda.
“Let me tell you what it’s time for,” he said. “It’s time to create 1.25 million new jobs and that’s what our economic plan outlines.
“It’s time to see 250,000 more small and family businesses created in this country … It’s time to continue to deliver the tax relief that Australians deserve.”
Urging Australians to think more carefully about Mr Shorten’s agenda, Mr Morrison warned it was the wrong policy prescription for the times and cited the ongoing trade tensions between China and the US and “uncertainty in the security environment” .
“Now is not the time for a weaker economy. Now is not the time for policies and an experiment that puts our economy under unnecessary pressure when we’re facing the challenges that we’re facing,” he said.
To make sure Labor’s socialist agenda is blocked in the Senate, vote “1” Australian Conservatives on the big, white Senate ballot paper.
