The community is being encouraged to support ³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾lessness Week, 7-13 August 2023, by contributing to food collections being held around the city.
³Ô¹ÏÍøÕ¾lessness Week aims to raise awareness of the causes and impacts of homelessness, with more than 122,000 people experiencing homelessness in any given night around Australia.
Locally, emergency relief providers, among them St Andrew’s Church at Glenelg and St Jude’s Church at Brighton, are experiencing higher than ever demand for pantry items.
People can show their support by donating the following items:
- Jams and spreads
- Biscuits
- Cereals
- Canned meals
- Canned fish
- Pasta sauces
- Coffee
- Teas
- UHT milk
- Sweets
- Treats
- Food vouchers
- Toiletries
The following locations will be accepting donated items:
- Kauri Community and Sports Centre, Seacliff
- Brighton Civic Centre, Brighton
- Brighton Library, Brighton
- St Jude’s Anglican Church, Brighton
- Holdfast Bay Community Centre, Hove
- INC Café, Minda, North Brighton
- Glenelg Community Centre, Glenelg
- Glenelg Library, Glenelg
- St Andrew’s by the Sea Uniting Church, Glenelg
The items will be distributed to organisations which provide emergency relief support in the City of Holdfast Bay.
