State Highway Patrol officers were left shaking their heads following a high-speed intercept in Lara on 30 November.
Officers observed a vehicle overtaking numerous cars in a dangerous manner on Forest Road around 3pm.
The Holden Commodore was intercepted and clocked travelling almost twice the posted speed limit.
The speed check alleges the vehicle travelling at 137km/h in a 70km/h zone.
They breath-tested the driver, who returned a positive alcohol reading.
He returned a reading of .127, more than double the legal limit.
The 38-year-old Lara man’s vehicle was impounded at a cost of $1125.
His licence was immediately suspended and is expected to be charged on summons with offences including drink driving, speeding and other traffic related offences.
