Dozens of graffiti vandals arrested in Melbourne with more to be faded out

Nearly 40 vandals have been arrested for graffitiing buildings in Melbourne, with police continue to target those involved.

Melbourne uniform police are running Operation Fade, which commenced on 28 February and is aimed at disrupting those involved in graffiti and vandalism across the city.

39 people have been arrested so far, including:

  • Four offenders were remanded due to their offending
  • Eight were charged and released on bail
  • 17 were released and will be charged via summons

Police are continuing to investigate a number of incidents, and are appealing for public assistance to identify several people who vandalised buildings across Melbourne’s CBD recently, including:

  • A female entered a building on Latrobe Street at about 12.30am on 29 April and marked graffiti inside the foyer.
  • At about 6.20pm on 25 March, a male was seen marking graffiti on a wall in Royal Lane.
  • A male spraying graffiti on Spencer Street on 14 February, at about 7.30pm.
  • Three males were seen marking graffiti at a licenced premises on Swanston Street at about 12.15am on 23 April.
  • Two males were seen marking graffiti on windows and walls of a building on Latrobe Street at about 12am on 22 April.
  • On 30 April, three males were seen to mark graffiti on the exterior wall of a carpark on William Street at about 9.45am.
  • Two males were seen arriving on Spring Street at about 2.30am on 26 March. One of the men was observed jumping on a parking machine to provide them access to the roof. The males were then seen spraying graffiti on a heritage listed wall.

Police have released images of several people who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.
