Long-time wildlife advocator and highly respected environmental figure Dr. Bob Brown has thrown his support behind the Australian Koala Foundation (AKF)’s upcoming event – the Koala Army’s March for Creatures Great and Small.
In the AKF’s latest Urban the Koala video released this morning, Dr. Bob Brown urges Australians to get behind the cause and join the march to Parliament House on September 1st, in Canberra.
“Put a special mark in your calendar for the 1st of September for the big gathering in Canberra for Australia’s wildlife by the Australian Koala Foundation,” Dr. Brown can be seen saying.
“We have to protect koala habitat so that we can protect them, and you can take action. Join, support, do what you can. Be in Canberra or get behind this fantastic show of popular feeling for the Koala and all Australia’s wildlife.”
Bob Brown is a recognisable figure and his dedication to protecting forests is decades long. His 2023 feature documentary, ‘The Giants’ took the world by storm when it was released. Showing in Australian cinemas for eighteen weeks, its success saw it become the second-highest grossing documentary feature film of the year and inspired national rallies to end deforestation.
Dr. Brown himself will be joining the Australian Koala Foundation and walking alongside thousands of wildlife lovers and activists who will be marching together for a whole manner of different native Australian species’ that live in Koala habitat.
“I want this March to show the Australian people that animals who live in Koala habitat are suffering when the trees come down. In our view, the Koala Protection Act is the only thing now that will ensure the long-term survival of our beloved Koalas and all of their co-habitants,” AKF Chair Deborah Tabart OAM says. “It is imperative that Australians continue to care about our native animals and will not rest until their habitats – and subsequently futures, are protected under law.”
