A drink driver was tracked down by police last night after allegedly driving off after a crash at Clarendon.
Police were called at 12.10am on Saturday 16 October by a driver who had just been involved in a crash at Grants Gully Road, Clarendon. The other driver of the silver Holden sedan had driven off. The caller had followed the Holden and saw it collide with another vehicle.
Patrols attended and located the Holden at the intersection of Grants Gully Road and Chandlers Hill Road. The driver was asleep in the car and police had to break the window to remove him from the vehicle.
The 42-year-old Dover Gardens man recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.250.
He was arrested and charged with drink driving, two counts of failing to stop at the scene of a crash and failing to provide details and drive without due care and will be bailed when sober.
His vehicle was impounded for 28 days.
Fortunately, no one was injured during this incident.
